Places to eat - Mazel Tov, Budapest

Budapest is somewhere I had wanted to visit for a long time. Multiple friends has told me about the hot baths and ruins bars so I was really keen to visit, but it ended up being so much better than I expected. I intend to write a few posts about Budapest as we had such a fun time and there was literally so many different things to do, food to try and places to explore.

On our first day we arrived around at lunch time, found our Air BnB to drop off our bags and went to explore the Jewish Quarter. We had heard of Mazel Tov and therefore planned to go there at some point, but we ended up stumbling across it and decided to go for a late lunch.

Could I please have these lights in my hallway?! I think we were all a bit in awe when we first stood in the entrance of Mazel Tov as we suddenly went from a quiet, dusty street to a really modern hallway with quirky lights and beautiful greenery. The interior is so Pinterest/ instagram-able!

We found ourselves a table and ordered ourselves a drink. The temperature was absolutely boiling when we were there, but Mazel Tov had a lovely shaded outside dining and bar area for us to cool down. We each ordered an alcoholic and non-alcoholic drink and browsed the menus.

The cuisine is Middle Eastern which was simply delicious. Apologies for not getting better pictures of the food - we were all so hungry after our early flight and I didn't want to be "that person"... I was pretty hungry myself too! We all went for something different off the menu but the mix of falafel, chicken, hummus, pitta bread, veg and sweet potato was so delicious. I would honestly go back in a heartbeat, my mouth is actually watering a little bit at the thought of the food.

I actually ordered my first ever Aperol Spritz with the girls at Mazel Tov. They had told me I would either love or hate it, and luckily I loved it as they pretty much became our drink of choice through-out the rest of the holiday. I'm a little bit addicted to these now and they're the perfect cooling down drink!

From the ruin pub entrance alone, you would have no idea that such a cute little restaurant, bar and garden would be inside with such modern decor. I love the hanging ivy surrounding the venue, the painted hamsa hand mural and the buzzing yet relaxed atmosphere. Everything was so nice to look at and even the toilets had fun cowboy saloon doors.

We enjoyed ourselves so much the first time that we ended up popping back one evening for a little cocktail before heading out to the other ruins bars. The atmosphere at night time was lovely with more of a bar setting and lots of cute fairy lights.

If you would like to visit yourself, the address is: Akacfa utca 47, Budapest 1073, Hungary

Thank you for reading! :)

Bands I'm most excited for at 2000 Trees Festival 2017!

I bloody love a good festival. I haven't been to one in a couple of years and next weekend I am off to 2000 Trees with my cousin and a few friends, and I literally cannot wait. I hadn't heard of this festival before, but after looking at the line up I just knew that I had to go. Not only are the bands themselves going to be amazing, but the vibe of the whole festival sounds so good. There is an acoustic stage set up in the forest with hammocks - I definitely cannot wait to chill there! They also have a specific day where everyone has to wear fancy dress (a guilty pleasure of mine). The festival goers were able to vote for the fancy dress theme and this year it was decided as '2000 Trees On The High Seas' so a lovely mix of pirates, mermaids, rum and surfers - I best get outfit planning really!

I've decided to compile a little list of the bands I am most excited to see. Luckily for me, I have checked the timings and there seems to be no major clashes between bands! There are a couple which overlap by a few songs but that I can handle. Check them out and let me know if you discover any new bands!

The Front Bottoms

The Menzingers

Slaves

Deaf Havana

Mallory Knox

Spring King

Fizzy Blood

Pulled Apart By Horses

Dinosaur Pile-Up

Gnarwolves

Nothing But Theives

Some others which I couldn't find YouTube videos for on Blogger:

Feed The Rhino / The Wonder Years /  Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes / Strange Bones

You can check out the rest of the bands playing here:

Thank you for reading :)

Are you off to any festivals this year?
Which is your favourite band that is playing 2000 Trees 2017?
Are there any bands I haven't mentioned that you think I should check out?

Favourite songs I discovered in 2016!

I've never really talked about my music taste before on my blog, but I feel like this last year I've discovered so many good new bands. I've had my current job for just over a year now, and I spend most of my days in the office so I have lots of time to listen to the radio and discover new music. I mostly like to listen to rock/metal music, but I genuinely will give anything a go - I won't even try and deny that I definitely became a Beliber in 2015. I thought it would be nice to do a little round-up post of some of my favourite bands and songs that I discovered this year and hopefully you can find something new that you like too! I think I discovered most of these listening to Radio X and triple j, let me know your favourite!

Spring King - Rectifier

Blossoms - Charlemagne

Frank Carter and The Rattlesnakes - There's a Devil inside of me

The Last Shadow Puppets - Used To Be My Girl

The Black Queen - Ice To Never

Sticky Fingers - Liquorlip Loaded Gun

Violent Soho - Outsider

The 1975 - The Sound

Tame Impala - The Less I Know The Better

PUP - DVP

Thanks for reading :)
What was your favourite band/song that you discovered last year?
Do you have any music suggestions similar to my songs above?

A little Summer 2016 round-up and haul... #blogtober Day 3

This Summer has literally been one of the best of my life, but it has also been the one I've taken the least photographs of! I've done lots of fun things that I may do separate blog posts for - visited Paris with some of my best friends, was bridesmaid at my mum's wedding, picked up many bargains at the carboot sales! I've put together a little summary post of some of my favourite times and some of the things I've treated myself to recently.

Me and my sister took my step-nephew to see The Jungle Book, but I think that we may have been more excited than he was! I finally treated myself to The Great Frog 'Michael Rodent' ring that has been on my wishlist for so long. I bought it on my 25th birthday and I've worn it most days ever since. I went to go see The Last Shadow Puppets with one of my best friends and it was awesome. After many failed attempts at getting tickets and months waiting for the actual gig, it was so worth it!

How pretty are these flowers?! I had never seen them before until me and my friend went on a little power walk. Turns out they're called Passion Flowers, and I'm definitely going to convince my dad to plant some in our back garden! I went on my first sunny holiday in about 5 years this year, so I had lots of fun shopping for that. One of my most worn items was these Vans sliders - they're actually from the mens section if you just size down one or two sizes! I also treated myself to some new make up brushes as I've never really bought myself a full set. Beforehand I just used a random selection of Real Techniques and others I had gathered over the years, but these rose gold set from Spectrum Brushes are so lovely and great quality.

This was definitely the highlight of my whole Summer - me and my best friend ever went to Marrakech. It was literally so fun that we barely took any photographs! We spent every single day sunbathing, in the wave pools and on-sight water park, browsing the markets for gorgeous hamsa hand ornaments and just generally relaxing. The food was great, the people were great, the entertainment was great, the weather was great - I could really have happily stayed there for a long time.

I finally got my first ever tattoo finished, which has been on my Bucket List for a long time! My friend first tattooed me when he started his career and we were about 16 years old, and then this Summer at the age of 25 we finally completed it, and I love it! I got to see one of my favourite bands Slaves in a really intimate 'Back of the Van' tour and it was one of the best, sweatiest gigs I've ever been to in my life. Have you watched the Netflix Original: Stranger Things? It was so addictive and very 80s, I binge watched it all in a couple of days and I cannot wait for the second series to come out.

This Summer was the year I started getting acrylic nails done. I know they're bad for your nails, and they're expensive, but they just look so cute and it means you don't need to worry about having chipped nails for weeks on end. Me and my friends had an afternoon of tie-dying which was so much fun and I definitely want to do it again soon. Lastly, and definitely most importantly, I found out this Summer I'm going to be an auntie! :) My little sister and her boyfriend are expecting their first baby and I literally couldn't be more excited!

What fun things did you get up to this Summer?
Thanks for reading, hopefully see you tomorrow! :)

Autumn/Winter bucket list... #blogtober Day 2

Right so hopefully none of you will notice but I've already failed on blogtober Day 2! I actually had an operation yesterday and didn't realise I would be kept in the hospital until so late so you'll have to forgive me and I will write two posts in one day at some point. As much as I love the Summer, Winter does have some of my favourite times of the year - Halloween and Christmas. You may already know that I have my Bucket List that I try to tick off a few things from every year, but I thought it would be a fun idea to create an Autumn/Winter for me to try and tick off over the next few cold months.

  1. Go to Fright Night at Thorpe Park
  2. Try a spiced pumpkin latte
  3. Carve a pumpkin
  4. Have a Halloween movie marathon night with my friends
  5. Create a fun Halloween costume
  6. Go to a fireworks display
  7. Visit Brighton for a few days
  8. Go ice skating
  9. Drink lots of Baileys
  10. Teach myself some burgundy and gold Autumn/Winter eye make up looks
  11. Throw my sister an awesome baby shower (she is expecting her first child in February!)
  12. Have a Christmas movie marathon night with my sister
  13. Drive around finding the local houses covered in Christmas lights
  14. Purchase a really cheesy Christmas jumper
  15. Go to Winter Wonderland
  16. Learn to crochet
  17. Be organised for once and buy everyone's Christmas presents by early December
  18. Make a Malteaser Christmas pudding cake (found on Pinterest!)
  19. Make gingerbread snowflake Christmas cookies
  20. Make a Christmas yule log cake
  21. Read 3 books
  22. Visit the German Christmas markets in Birmingham
  23. Treat myself to a new sparkly NYE dress

Do you have any fun ideas for me to add?
Hopefully see you tomorrow!

Guess who's back... #blogtober Day 1

Hellooooo! Well it's definitely been a while, hasn't it?! I haven't written a post since August 2015 and this makes me quite sad. I stopped blogging for quite a few reasons. I was going through some big changes in my life and I was just continuing blogging because I felt like I should, rather than because I genuinely wanted to. I had no real passion or motivation to blog and so I decided to stop altogether, but I didn't realise my little break would end up being this long - sorry! There was lots of times I missed the blogging community and writing posts, but I've been so busy with life recently that I just haven't had time to catch up on all my favourite blogs or put together a blog post of my own.

The past few months I've eventually started to feel settled in life again and like I actually want to start blogging. I've been at my job a year now and I absolutely love it still. I work in menswear at the TK Maxx head offices and my work colleagues make me belly laugh on a daily basis so I couldn't really have found a better job. I think I'm quite possibly the happiest I've ever been, so what better time to start blogging again?!

Anyways, to throw myself back into blogging, I have decided to try and take part in Blogtober. It's a little challenge where you write a blog post every single day for the month of October. I can't quite believe it's October already, it feels like Summer only started the other day?! I went to the final carboot sale last weekend and it's scary to think that they're not back until April 2017 now! I have lots of weird and wonderful blog posts up my sleeve for the next coming month and I'm excited to start creating content on my own little corner of the internet again. October ends with my favourite time of the year also... Halloween!

Right that's it for today, see you tomorrow hopefully!

Personalised little instagram magnets from Sticky9!

If you've been following my blog for a little while now, you'll know I'm an absolute sucker for anything personalised with my instagram photographs. I have a whole wall in my room full of instagram polaroid prints and I've eaten many a personalised photo cake, so when I was asked by Sticky9 if I'd like some of my instagram photographs printed onto magnets for my fridge, I couldn't say no! I picked a few favourite images - some of my family and friends, some of my puppies and some cute quotes.

As soon as they arrived, I was in love. They're the perfect size and really good quality. The colours are nice and bright, and they'll be the perfect little addition to my kitchen! I already can't wait to order some more as I want my fridge to be full of them eventually! They also ship worldwide for free so they're the loveliest gift for yourself or a loved one! :)

They really brighten up a boring, white fridge! I'm planning to order some for my mum's birthday as I know she'd love some photo additions in her new home too! :) When they first come, they're stuck together in a big square so it's up to you if you want to rip them up into three rows, or all into separate squares... either way they look fabulous! If you're interested in getting some for yourself, you can get 15% off your first Sticky9 order with the code 'FRIENDVXQ9' :)

Last minute, I actually realised that I could also have these in my bedroom - they work so perfectly on the edge of my radiator! Sticky9 actually also sell photo prints, stickers and iPhone cases, so I'll probably be making another order sometime soon - I'll definitely be buying some more magnets as they're so cute!

Thanks for reading :)

The Wanderlust Tag!

I actually don't know if I've ever written a 'tag' post on my blog before, but after stumbling across Abby's tag here (make sure you check out her blog, it's awesome) I knew that I had to do it! I haven't done too much travelling in my lifetime, but I've done a fair bit including some amazing holidays. I also intend to do lots more traveling and ticking off my Bucket List over the next few years so I thought this would be a fun thing to do!

Top of the mountain selfies with Joe!

Q: Where have you travelled to that you would love to visit again?
A: I went to Singapore when I was in Year 7 and my cousins lived out there and it was incredible, I'd love to go there again. I went to Canada to see the same cousins when they lived there but I was about 7 years old and can't remember much from it and I'd love to go to Canada again one day! Just last month I went to Amsterdam and I'm literally itching already to go back!

Q: Where was your first plane to?
A: I actually just had to text my mum to find the answer to this question as I've forgotten. Apparently it was to Majorca when I was three years old :)

Q: You're leaving tomorrow, money is no object, where are you going?
A: If money was no option, I'd love to go on a worldwide trip for as long as I could hack it! Hopefully that would be at least a year, and I would literally go all over! Some of the main places I'd like to go are India, Australia, Thailand, New Zealand, Iceland, Japan and America.

Q: Preferred method of travel: planes, trains or car?
A: I don't really like long car journeys (way too many going to and from university), and trains are pretty boring so I'd have to go with planes as they're the most exciting because I don't go on many planes. Saying that though, planes are definitely the most scary!

Q: Top three travel items?
A: 1 - A camera! You need to document those memories :) I have my own but if it's somewhere wet or crowded definitely Joe's GoPro!
2 - Sunglasses, if it's somewhere sunny of course! I love an excuse to wear my sunglasses!
3 -  Passport & money?! That's just me saying the essentials and being boring but this question is quite hard haha! I'd also like to say Joe, I like having him around!

Q: Favourite travel website?
A: I absolutely love watching Fun for Louis on YouTube and following him on instagram as he is literally always doing the most amazing things! He's basically on a permanent gap year and I'm very jealous!

Since reading Abby's tag also, I came across her favourite travel blog which is Traveling Triplets and I have since followed them and become slightly obsessed! They're super cool triplets who travel together and blog about their adventures!

Q: Where would you travel to just to eat the food?
A: Definitely Italy. My dad has just come back from Rome and I was literally drooling over the sound of the meals they had when they were out there. Lots of pizza, pasta and wine? Yes please!
I'd also like to go to France for the croissants and macaroons, as well as trying frogs legs and snails!

Q: Is there a place you would never go again?
A: I'm not sure. I wouldn't necessarily go on a girly drinking holiday again. Kavos was fun at the time but I definitely don't intend on going back there!

Q: Can you recite your passport number from memory if asked?
A: No way. I barely use my passport unfortunately! Hopefully I can change that this year :)

Q: Do you prefer window, aisle or middle seat?
A: Without even thinking about it, the window seat. Even though you might have to nudge a sleeping stranger so that you can hop over and go to the toilet, I would much rather be the one looking out over the sea, or mountains, or clouds!

Q: How do you pass the time on the airplane?
A: I'll usually watch the movie they provide if it's quite a short flight, chat to whoever I'm on the plane with, look out of the window and have a little read :) oh and eat... I always eat to pass the time!

Thanks for reading :)
Where would you like to travel to next?
Should I do some more tags on my blog?

Let me know if you do this tag also!
Love Dani :)

Pinspiration #2 - Studio & Sewing room decor!

Pinterest has become my obsession recently. I've used it on and off for years now, pinning my future onto online boards, but recently my addiction has come back and every spare second I have, I'm adding another pin to another board. This isn't necessarily a bad thing though, as I've come across some lovely home decor inspiration and it's really motivated me to get my sister's old room/my studio and sewing room into shape and decorated nicely! I'm going to try and start writing these posts more regularly as I do love writing about something different on my blog, and although I write a lot of wishlists including homeware, I don't post much about home decor styling! You can follow me on Pinterest here :)

(Image sources: Pinterest & Pinterest)

I don't know if you can tell already, but my plan for the room is to be white and clear. You need things to be uncluttered when you're working, and a bright white workspace sounds so lovely to me. In the first image, I love the bulldog clips being used to hold up the images. I also love the Muji acrylic storage being used for stationary, and the white wire chair covered by a nice furry throw. In the second image, I love the simple copper pot. I'd like the room to be majority white with small pops of black and copper.

(Image sources: Pinterest & Pinterest)

Keeping with the clinically white theme, I'd also want everything to be coordinated in a way so that if I wanted to find something, I'd know exactly where it was. I love these simple shelves with black and white files in the first image. Somewhere to file my clothing patterns, my important documents etc. The second image is just so cool. I have hundreds of fashion magazines so they'd probably be piled up on the floor, but this would be fab to have this month's issues on, or my absolute favourites.

(Image sources: Pinterest & Pinterest)

I've seen these wire panels being used in quite a few Pinterest photographs now and I've decided that I need one in my life. They're such a quirky alternative to pinboards and you can use cute little pegs and bulldog clips to attach photographs, magazine clippings and important notes to them. I think the black and white versions both look really nice against the white background and would be lovely in any studio or bedroom.

(Image sources: Pinterest & Tumblr)

The wire house in the first image is so unusual but would just look nice on a shelf. It's a bit like those white tealight houses that I like so they'd all look cute lined up next to one another. I also really like the piled up fashion books with a little pot of flowers on top, and the big framed images. I'd probably rather have inspirational quotes instead, but the layout of this image is so lovely. Lastly, I also really like these peculiar little copper lightbulbs on a long cord and would love something like this above my desk. In the second image, I really like the contrast of the white mannequin to the wooden desk and the images on the wall. My mannequin takes up quite a bit of space so it's nice to have it dressed in an outfit.
