Bands I'm most excited for at 2000 Trees Festival 2017!

I bloody love a good festival. I haven't been to one in a couple of years and next weekend I am off to 2000 Trees with my cousin and a few friends, and I literally cannot wait. I hadn't heard of this festival before, but after looking at the line up I just knew that I had to go. Not only are the bands themselves going to be amazing, but the vibe of the whole festival sounds so good. There is an acoustic stage set up in the forest with hammocks - I definitely cannot wait to chill there! They also have a specific day where everyone has to wear fancy dress (a guilty pleasure of mine). The festival goers were able to vote for the fancy dress theme and this year it was decided as '2000 Trees On The High Seas' so a lovely mix of pirates, mermaids, rum and surfers - I best get outfit planning really!

I've decided to compile a little list of the bands I am most excited to see. Luckily for me, I have checked the timings and there seems to be no major clashes between bands! There are a couple which overlap by a few songs but that I can handle. Check them out and let me know if you discover any new bands!

The Front Bottoms

The Menzingers

Slaves

Deaf Havana

Mallory Knox

Spring King

Fizzy Blood

Pulled Apart By Horses

Dinosaur Pile-Up

Gnarwolves

Nothing But Theives

Some others which I couldn't find YouTube videos for on Blogger:

Feed The Rhino / The Wonder Years /  Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes / Strange Bones

You can check out the rest of the bands playing here:

Thank you for reading :)

Are you off to any festivals this year?
Which is your favourite band that is playing 2000 Trees 2017?
Are there any bands I haven't mentioned that you think I should check out?

Dying my hair pink - Bleach London Rose Super Cool Colour Review!

Dying my hair pink is something that I've wanted to tick off my bucket list for a very, very long time. Pink is my favourite colour, but I don't really ever wear anything pink and I was actually quite scared about dyeing my hair such a bold colour. The first time I decided to dye my hair pink was at the hairdressers. I was telling my hairdresser how bored of my hair I was, and that I was tempted to either go really short or really dark. She knew that I had always wanted to go pink one day, and suggested that I use this Bleach London product as she had half a ready mixed bottle left over.

I finally got the guts to do it - sometimes you need a push from someone. My hairdresser is great, so far she has pushed me to get the bob I was scared of, try the blue toner I was scared of and now dye my hair pink. (These are exactly the type of people you need in your life!)

I must admit that I hadn't heard the most positive reviews about the Bleach London Super Cool Colour products. One thing that I had heard was that some of their colours (mostly their blue tones) had stained people's hair green and it was pretty much impossible to get rid of, so that had put me off slightly. Another thing I had heard was that the dye barely worked. And oh boy was I wrong.

As I said above, we only had about half a 150ml bottle of product left to use. Both me and my hairdresser were pretty sure that the dye wouldn't do all that much to my hair, and that it would leave a really subtle pink all over. I had just had a half set of highlights and haircut, so my hair was damp and we put the product all over. The suggestion is to leave the dye on for 15 minutes but we left it for nearer to 30 minutes.

Usually after having my hair bleached, we would use a blue toner on my hair, and I would continue for the next week to use purple shampoo on my hair to make the roots the same silvery colour as the length of my hair. As we didn't do this, and went straight to dyeing my hair pink, the roots were slightly more yellow than the rest of my hair, and the pink didn't take too well to the roots.

Above is a photograph taken on the evening of my salon trip. At the time I thought my hair felt SO PINK, but looking back on it, it was actually a really nice light-ish pink shade. Although the pink dye didn't take to the roots, I actually quite liked it at the time because it wasn't such a bold statement look. It was at this point that I knew I really liked the colour of the Bleach London Rose dye and I would definitely be using it again at home.

(Am I Scarlett Johanson in Lost in Translation yet?!)

TAKE TWO

The second time I decided to give the Bleach London Rose dye another go, I had the help of my best friend. We didn't purchase any rubber gloves so we used bare hands and then last minute some cling film. Believe me when I say it's just easier for everyone if you go to the shops and buy some gloves. Everything got stained pink.

The product claims to last 2-10 washes but having only washed my hair a couple of times and it was nearly all gone, I knew I would need to leave it in for quite a long time if I wanted it to last longer. I think the hair dye works so differently for different people, and for my hair personally, the colour holds really well at first but then fades quite quickly.

We applied the dye to dry hair and left it on for just over half an hour. We wrapped my hair in cling film to keep in the moisture as it dries out quite quickly. I feel like it was quite easy to do at home and I could do it myself even if I didn't have someone there to help me out.

When it came to washing out the product, I didn't use any shampoo and I just used a little bit of conditioner. The colour left was so much more intense than I ever imagined and I wasn't sure if I loved or hated it. But the product itself had most definitely worked. I dried and styled my hair as usual and I actually really liked the finished colour (as the picture below). As before, the hair dye lasted 3-4 washes, getting more subtle with each wash. I think the look after two washes is my favourite as it's a lovely dusky pastel pink, which is what I would have originally hoped for.

(Excuse the toilet selfie...)

BLEACH LONDON ROSE SHAMPOO AND CONDITIONER

My current mission is to dye my hair pink evenly all over and to keep it pink evenly all over. I have left the pink fade out for now and am in the process of silver shampooing my hair until it is all one colour. Once I have this even base, I intend to go pink again. I have purchased the below Bleach London Rose shampoo and conditioner to try out. I absolutely love the colour left after one or two washes, so I'm really intrigued to see if the shampoo and conditioner will give this colour effect but in a more long term way. I will post a blog post once I have tried and tested them out, so fingers crossed!

Thanks for reading :)
Have you ever used a Bleach London product?
Have you ever dyed your hair pink using another brand?
I'd love to hear what you think!

Favourite songs I discovered in 2016!

I've never really talked about my music taste before on my blog, but I feel like this last year I've discovered so many good new bands. I've had my current job for just over a year now, and I spend most of my days in the office so I have lots of time to listen to the radio and discover new music. I mostly like to listen to rock/metal music, but I genuinely will give anything a go - I won't even try and deny that I definitely became a Beliber in 2015. I thought it would be nice to do a little round-up post of some of my favourite bands and songs that I discovered this year and hopefully you can find something new that you like too! I think I discovered most of these listening to Radio X and triple j, let me know your favourite!

Spring King - Rectifier

Blossoms - Charlemagne

Frank Carter and The Rattlesnakes - There's a Devil inside of me

The Last Shadow Puppets - Used To Be My Girl

The Black Queen - Ice To Never

Sticky Fingers - Liquorlip Loaded Gun

Violent Soho - Outsider

The 1975 - The Sound

Tame Impala - The Less I Know The Better

PUP - DVP

Thanks for reading :)
What was your favourite band/song that you discovered last year?
Do you have any music suggestions similar to my songs above?

Why 2016 wasn't all bad...

Well 2016 has been eventful to say the least! And although it's been a terrible year in some aspects, it's also been pretty awesome. I'm feeling really positive and excited for this next year so I thought I'd end on a high and list a few things that made 2016 a good year. Bring on 2017, I've got a feeling it's gonna be a good'un! :)

  • I got to see some of my favourite bands live and discovered loads of great new bands to listen to
  • My mummy got married
  • I ticked off some of my bucket list by going on some awesome holidays and road trips including Paris and Marrakech
  • I found out that I'm gonna be an auntie and went to my sister's baby scan
  • I caught a Jigglypuff
  • I got my first tattoo finished (nearly 10 years later)
  • My school friends surprised me with a sausage dog cake and pressies for my birthday
  • My best friends surprised me with a spa day and afternoon tea for my birthday
  • I rekindled some friendships that I'm so grateful for
  • I learnt to do my eye makeup properly
  • Leonardo won an Oscar
  • I laughed every single day

Thanks for reading :)

A little Summer 2016 round-up and haul... #blogtober Day 3

This Summer has literally been one of the best of my life, but it has also been the one I've taken the least photographs of! I've done lots of fun things that I may do separate blog posts for - visited Paris with some of my best friends, was bridesmaid at my mum's wedding, picked up many bargains at the carboot sales! I've put together a little summary post of some of my favourite times and some of the things I've treated myself to recently.

Me and my sister took my step-nephew to see The Jungle Book, but I think that we may have been more excited than he was! I finally treated myself to The Great Frog 'Michael Rodent' ring that has been on my wishlist for so long. I bought it on my 25th birthday and I've worn it most days ever since. I went to go see The Last Shadow Puppets with one of my best friends and it was awesome. After many failed attempts at getting tickets and months waiting for the actual gig, it was so worth it!

How pretty are these flowers?! I had never seen them before until me and my friend went on a little power walk. Turns out they're called Passion Flowers, and I'm definitely going to convince my dad to plant some in our back garden! I went on my first sunny holiday in about 5 years this year, so I had lots of fun shopping for that. One of my most worn items was these Vans sliders - they're actually from the mens section if you just size down one or two sizes! I also treated myself to some new make up brushes as I've never really bought myself a full set. Beforehand I just used a random selection of Real Techniques and others I had gathered over the years, but these rose gold set from Spectrum Brushes are so lovely and great quality.

This was definitely the highlight of my whole Summer - me and my best friend ever went to Marrakech. It was literally so fun that we barely took any photographs! We spent every single day sunbathing, in the wave pools and on-sight water park, browsing the markets for gorgeous hamsa hand ornaments and just generally relaxing. The food was great, the people were great, the entertainment was great, the weather was great - I could really have happily stayed there for a long time.

I finally got my first ever tattoo finished, which has been on my Bucket List for a long time! My friend first tattooed me when he started his career and we were about 16 years old, and then this Summer at the age of 25 we finally completed it, and I love it! I got to see one of my favourite bands Slaves in a really intimate 'Back of the Van' tour and it was one of the best, sweatiest gigs I've ever been to in my life. Have you watched the Netflix Original: Stranger Things? It was so addictive and very 80s, I binge watched it all in a couple of days and I cannot wait for the second series to come out.

This Summer was the year I started getting acrylic nails done. I know they're bad for your nails, and they're expensive, but they just look so cute and it means you don't need to worry about having chipped nails for weeks on end. Me and my friends had an afternoon of tie-dying which was so much fun and I definitely want to do it again soon. Lastly, and definitely most importantly, I found out this Summer I'm going to be an auntie! :) My little sister and her boyfriend are expecting their first baby and I literally couldn't be more excited!

What fun things did you get up to this Summer?
Thanks for reading, hopefully see you tomorrow! :)

Autumn/Winter bucket list... #blogtober Day 2

Right so hopefully none of you will notice but I've already failed on blogtober Day 2! I actually had an operation yesterday and didn't realise I would be kept in the hospital until so late so you'll have to forgive me and I will write two posts in one day at some point. As much as I love the Summer, Winter does have some of my favourite times of the year - Halloween and Christmas. You may already know that I have my Bucket List that I try to tick off a few things from every year, but I thought it would be a fun idea to create an Autumn/Winter for me to try and tick off over the next few cold months.

  1. Go to Fright Night at Thorpe Park
  2. Try a spiced pumpkin latte
  3. Carve a pumpkin
  4. Have a Halloween movie marathon night with my friends
  5. Create a fun Halloween costume
  6. Go to a fireworks display
  7. Visit Brighton for a few days
  8. Go ice skating
  9. Drink lots of Baileys
  10. Teach myself some burgundy and gold Autumn/Winter eye make up looks
  11. Throw my sister an awesome baby shower (she is expecting her first child in February!)
  12. Have a Christmas movie marathon night with my sister
  13. Drive around finding the local houses covered in Christmas lights
  14. Purchase a really cheesy Christmas jumper
  15. Go to Winter Wonderland
  16. Learn to crochet
  17. Be organised for once and buy everyone's Christmas presents by early December
  18. Make a Malteaser Christmas pudding cake (found on Pinterest!)
  19. Make gingerbread snowflake Christmas cookies
  20. Make a Christmas yule log cake
  21. Read 3 books
  22. Visit the German Christmas markets in Birmingham
  23. Treat myself to a new sparkly NYE dress

Do you have any fun ideas for me to add?
Hopefully see you tomorrow!

Guess who's back... #blogtober Day 1

Hellooooo! Well it's definitely been a while, hasn't it?! I haven't written a post since August 2015 and this makes me quite sad. I stopped blogging for quite a few reasons. I was going through some big changes in my life and I was just continuing blogging because I felt like I should, rather than because I genuinely wanted to. I had no real passion or motivation to blog and so I decided to stop altogether, but I didn't realise my little break would end up being this long - sorry! There was lots of times I missed the blogging community and writing posts, but I've been so busy with life recently that I just haven't had time to catch up on all my favourite blogs or put together a blog post of my own.

The past few months I've eventually started to feel settled in life again and like I actually want to start blogging. I've been at my job a year now and I absolutely love it still. I work in menswear at the TK Maxx head offices and my work colleagues make me belly laugh on a daily basis so I couldn't really have found a better job. I think I'm quite possibly the happiest I've ever been, so what better time to start blogging again?!

Anyways, to throw myself back into blogging, I have decided to try and take part in Blogtober. It's a little challenge where you write a blog post every single day for the month of October. I can't quite believe it's October already, it feels like Summer only started the other day?! I went to the final carboot sale last weekend and it's scary to think that they're not back until April 2017 now! I have lots of weird and wonderful blog posts up my sleeve for the next coming month and I'm excited to start creating content on my own little corner of the internet again. October ends with my favourite time of the year also... Halloween!

Right that's it for today, see you tomorrow hopefully!

Photo round-up of my year in 2014! :)

Sorry this post is a little late, as some of you may know I've just been on the best trip ever to Amsterdam with my boyfriend Joe, and I shall be getting a YouTube video of our fun times up sometime soon. I started doing this round-up of the year blog post last year, and I'm gonna keep on doing them each year as they're such a good way to remember everything that happened in the past year! Yet again 2014 has been a crazy year - I started the year finishing off my dissertation and now I've graduated and moved onto interning and the real world! :) The first half of the year was definitely more boring than the second half, as it was spent slaving away in my uni bedroom and the classroom studio, but the second half I got to do some super fun things! I definitely forgot how long these blog posts take to create too... I might try and do it per month during 2015 so that it's all ready to publish in December haha! :)

January

January was such a random one this year. We had an awesome New Years Eve at university and everyone was there together for the last time! I then shopped in the sales a bit and the rest of it was spent slaving away at uni, on Photoshop and buying fabrics for my final collection, as well as finishing off my dissertation.

February

February obviously included Valentine's Day, and this year it was actually mine and Joe's 5th year anniversary! February was another month of slaving away at univeristy but I also got my hair dyed a little bit lighter (looking back I actually really like the slightly ginger tone here), treated myself to lots of Models Own nail polishes, discovered the sweet flavoured Carex soaps (strawberry laces, chocolate orange and cola bottles, yum!) and went to Biddy's Tearoom in Norwich for the first time, which was so yummy! :)

March

March was pretty sunny in Norwich which was nice! I feel like all these first few months of 2014 were such a blur of uni work and stress! We had some fun times procrastinating on the balcony together though and I had my hair dyed even blonder. You can really see the difference in colour from February til March.

April

Despite all the stress, April was a really good month for me. It was my 23rd birthday (ahh I feel so old, but I loved everyone singing the Blink 182 song 'What's my age again?' at me because the lyrics are "nobody likes you when you're 23"), the new series of Game of Thrones came out, I got some awesome birthday presents and got to spend time with my loved ones. I also had my hair dyed even blonder and I was eventually happy with the colour :)

May

The month of May this year might've been the most stressful month of my whole life. It was the countdown to my final ever hand-in, my final collection being finished and the catwalk fashion show. This month I managed to finish everything on time, have a photoshoot of my collection and had an awesome catwalk fashion show, so as you can imagine we all went out and got very drunk! I also won Jim Chapman's giveaway to win the full collection of Tanya Burr's lips and nail collection, and he actually turned up at my uni house to deliver them as he lived so close!

June

June was so lovely as all the stress had finally been taken away from us and we got to spend time together as friends rather than occasionally swooping past each other in the kitchen area. We went for plenty of nights out, had many BBQs and also went to the beach. I popped home to surprise my dad for Father's Day which was lovely and I also helped man the uni stand at Graduate Fashion Week. I eventually had time to do some blogging this month after putting blogging on hold for several months. June was also sad though as it was the month we all tidied and packed up our rooms to move back home!

July

July was the month of my graduation, the day I never thought would come! So many times throughout uni I wanted to give up but I managed to stick it out, get a good grade and graduate with all my friends! I had a nice (orange) fake tan and it was lovely and sunny that day. My sister gave me the funniest graduation card which read 'Congratulations on finally wearing a tassel on something other than your nipples' hahaha! I wrote a full blog post about my graduation here if you'd like to read it! It was also Joe's 23rd birthday and I got him a rather fitting Heisenberg card! :)

August

During August I went to quite a few carboot sales and managed to get some lovely bargains! I also went to Reading Festival with my best friend and some uni friends, and saw some of my favourite bands ever! I did a full blog post on Reading Festival if you'd like to read it here :) I was also working in Costa Coffee during this Summer full time so I didn't have too much time for fun!

September

September was a really fun month this year and I got to do lots of fun things! I went to Alton Towers for the first time ever with my best friend, my mum moved into her new house with her boyfriend so we had a fun, champagne-filled evening celebrating, the steam fair came to town and we went on lots of rides and my blog turned 2 years old. I also went to LFW, had an Ikea makeover in my bedroom, went to a Primark A/W Preview and Blogger Masterclass with Victoria from Inthefrow and spent some fun days in London with my best friend :)

October

October started off very exciting, as me and Joe went to Scotland for a few weeks! It was amazing and I loved every minute of it! We camped in some amazing places, climbed up some mountains, saw some lovely waterfalls and stayed in a little wooden wigwam! I still need to edit and upload my YouTube videos from Scotland so keep an eye out for them! The new series of American Horror Story came out which made me super happy as it's one of my favourite series, I went to the Oh My Love A/W Preview Day and I did some fun pumpkin carving for Halloween! :)

November

November was another fun month this year. Everyone starts to get a little bit excited for Christmas and the festive season (even though not everyone likes to admit it!), the Lush Christmas bath bombs started coming out and the crazy Christmas shopping starts! I got to see some family friends that I hadn't seen in years which was lovely, I treated myself to the Naked 3 Palette and most definitely haven't looked back! I had a fun day in London with my sister going to a few blogger press days and I eventually upgraded my phone to an iPhone 5! :)

December

December started off really fun as I got to intern at one of my favourite clothing brands, Oh My Love! :) I wrote a full blog post about it here which you can read, but it consisted of everything from photoshoots to returns and helping out on the website. I also visited Winter Wonderland with some uni friends, had some fun times in London and ended up having a lovely Christmas with my friends and family :) and to top it all off, Joe treated me with a trip to Amsterdam as my Christmas present!

Wow I've eventually finished this blog post, it felt like it took forever! But yet again, I'm so glad I wrote it, even just for myself to look back over the years and see how much has changed! :)

Reading Festival 2014! And a new YouTube video :)

A couple of weeks I went to Reading Festival with some of my best friends and it was so fun. I knew from the beginning that I was going to be recording the majority of it because I was seeing some of my favourite bands and spending it with people I might not see for a long while! You can scroll straight to the end if you'd like to see the YouTube video I made with the footage :)

There was loads of people there I knew and I camped with loads of my friends from uni but we all ended up splitting up when it came to deciding which bands we wanted to see! Most of my time was spent with my best friend Courtney, my cousin Joe and my friend Alex from uni as we all wanted to see the same bands. Me and Courtney shared her GoPro the whole time, and the boys enjoyed borrowing it to run through the audience and crowd surfing whilst recording themselves which ended up with some funny footage!

My favourite bands there were Die Antwoord, Blink 182, A Day to Remember, issues and letlive. I also really enjoyed Jimmy Eat World, Deaf Havana, Queens of the Stone Age, Paramore (surprisingly really good even though I hadn't listened to them in about 6 years), Papa Roach, Hactivist, Arctic Monkeys, Royal Blood, Lonely The Brave... and the list could go on! There was loads more bands I hadn't heard of before which I ended up falling in love with!

It was such a fun weekend and such a nice break away from full time work, I can't wait to get back to my next festival! I'm fingers crossed that I can go to Download and Glastonbury or Bestival next year as they seem really fun! :)

We also enjoyed recording ourselves whilst on the rides, and the footage from that was pretty hilarious (especially all the screaming!) I'm lucky that I can borrow my best friends and my boyfriend's GoPro cameras when I like, but I definitely need to invest in one for myself. If you don't know what they are, they're little cameras which you can get waterproof casing for, and you can attach them to your head, chest, or arm and not worry about them falling off! They give a funny fish-eye lens effect which I love and they're not too expensive so they're perfect for day-to-day videoing which I hope to do some more of, for both my blog and so that I have somewhere to look back on all my funny old memories!

FloralDanielle is 2 years old! :)

In some ways, it feels like two years is such a long time, and in some ways it feels like it's nothing at all. This time two years ago, I had started reading blogs daily and loved the idea of starting my own, so one day I randomly created a blogger account with no idea what it would bring. I feel like I've been reading my favourite blogs forever. It was the first Summer since I had started uni and it was just a little hobby that I really enjoyed, nowadays I still feel the same although I have had the chance to work with some amazing brands and make friends with some lovely people along the way! :)

I have really lost my blogging mojo recently though, it's been a weird mix of finishing uni (even though I had no time to blog or read blogs at all in third year), getting a full time job almost straight away and spending any spare days I had seeing people I'd missed! I know I recently blogged about getting my full time job, but after just two months there I was really unhappy and decided to hand in my notice and have some 'me time' to sort my life out a little, finish unpacking from uni and setting up my own little studio. I really want to start blogging regularly again though as I have missed it, and I've missed having the time to catch up on all my favourites too! I've become a YouTube addict in the last year also watching ridiculous amounts, so I've started videoing a lot of days out here and there so I'm hoping to combine the two and continue with blogging as well as branching out into YouTube.

Anyways this has turned into a bit of a long post when it was supposed to be something quick and fun to celebrate my two years of blogging! I just want to say a little thank you to anyone who's been following my blog, whether it be from the beginning, from a week ago or just reads it once in a blue moon, and hopefully there will be lots of exciting things to come in the future :)

I was sent this gorgeous little cake* from the lovely people over at Baker Days to celebrate my blog's birthday. It is so cute and tiny, and it can fit through your letterbox so is the perfect gift idea for someone and can be totally personalised! It was super yummy and came with some balloons, candles and a whistle to get the partay going ;)

Thanks for reading :)
Hopefully I'll get back into the swing of blogging this month!
Thank you again Bakers Days for this yummy cake :D
